Yoga Teachers
Our teachers are trained in the lineage of Swami Sivananda Radha and certified by Yasodhara Ashram. The program is based on 800 hours of training, including the three month Yoga Development Course (YDC) and teacher training. Hidden Language and Kundalini/Dreams certification require completion of thirty book reports prior to the 100 hour intensives. Teachers are asked to renew every 3 years.
Teachers at Radha offer their classes as Karma Yoga, without personal compensation. All proceeds support the maintenance of Radha Vancouver and initiatives of Yasodhara Ashram.
Swami Jyotihananda
Swami Jyotihananda comes from Yasodhara Ashram where she has lived and taught for the past twelve years. She lived in the Radha Centres for fifteen years before that and started the first centre in Calgary in 1982 as well as the UK centre, which opened in 1990. “I was here at Radha Vancouver when it first opened, helping with the initial clean-up. The vision was clear then and it is joy to see how it has manifested.” Swami Jyotihananda brings a love of the teachings of Swami Radha and a deep trust in how they can radically change people and help them to evolve.
Elizabeth Quinn
Elizabeth has been engaged in spiritual development for over 20 years. She values the influence of yoga on both the mind and body and spent six years living at Yasodhara Ashram in the Kootenays where she deepened her understanding of spiritual life and practices. Using reflection as a practice offers her a taste of liberation each day and enriches her life. She teaches Kundalini, Dreams, Hidden Language Hatha Yoga, and urban retreats. She has been teaching yoga for 14 years.
Francesca Cogorno Francesca lived at Yasodhara Ashram for two months in the summer of 2010. She was part of the Young Adult Program during her first 6 weeks at the Ashram and stayed on to take a 10-day yoga course afterward. In her initial visit, she made a connection to Swami Radha’s teachings that inspired her to take the Yoga Development Course and Hatha Certification in the winter of 2011. She comes to Vancouver to teach hatha and to start a Yoga for Youth Outreach Program.
Lizabeth Harrison Lizabeth was attracted to Swami Radha’s teachings by the richness of meaning given to the poses ‘that went beyond the physical aspect I had been focusing on for many years’. She completed the Yoga Development Program and Hatha Teacher Training in 2009 and is grateful to be leading classes at Radha Vancouver providing a safe, supportive, non-competitive atmosphere. Her gentle approach focuses on breath awareness to relax the body, expand the mind and explore our playful spirit. “Breathing exercises, postures and relaxation subtly transforms the body into a vital spiritual tool through which levels of intuitive understanding are reached” (Swami Sivananda Radha)
Emma Pang Emma began practicing yoga in 2005 and immediately fell in love with the non-competitive and inward nature of the practice.
She was certified as a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (200hr) in 2010. Guided by the Light, she found herself at Yasodhara Ashram at the end of 2010 and went on to complete her YDC and Hatha Teacher Training in early 2011. Having been empowered by Swami Radha’s teachings herself, Emma feels blessed to share her learnings, offer her service, and support other seekers on this journey of self-discovery and self-mastery.
